The Park District of La Grange expects to have a response to the Friends of the Park early this week over an eight-count proposal made last week to end the two-year legal standoff to develop the former Rich Port YMCA and a portion of Gordon Park.

The Park Board met Sunday evening in an execuive session meeting to discuss the proposal, which includes reducing the size of the Gordon Park land that would be sold to Atlantic Realty Partners for the mixed retail/residential project, and would preserve that portion as park space.

“Because we take this very seriously, we considered and discussed the formal proposal from the objectors and will be communicating a formal response through formal channels on Tuesday or Wednesday,” Kelpsas said.

Greater La Grange YMCA Vice President of Operations Kathy Bosco said it was inappropriate to comment on the proposal because it did not concern the YMCA.
