Malt liquor, malt vinegar and malted milk all share a slightly sweet powder made from grain.
Malting is a process in which barley (or another grain) is sprouted, kiln-dried and ground. The result is a slightly nutty, mellow complement for sweet flavors such as chocolate and vanilla. It is used in many foods, including baked goods and malted-milk powder.
