The annual Addison Community Days festival, held last weekend in Friendship Plaza along Lake Street and Kennedy Drive, featured the best the community has to offer in food, music and carnival rides.
The event this year featured the return of the Miss Addison Scholarship Pageant. The musical entertainment took a nostalgic trip back to the 1970s and ’80s, with rockers Gregg Rolie, former lead singer of Santana and Journey, The Ides of March featuring Jim Peterik, and the best of ’80s rock with Hi Fidelity on the main stage.
Local acts also got to perform, as the second stage featured dance groups from the Addison Park District and the Holy Cross/Immaculate Heart of Mary Dancers. The Addison Trail High School Orchesis performed Saturday.
Festivalgoers of all ages were treated to carnival rides, the village of Addison Health Fair inside the Addison Village Hall Saturday and the Addison Park District’s Bean Bag games next to the Community Stage.
