The After Hours Film Society’s sixth annual Student Short Film and Video Festival will showcase the talents of amateur filmmakers from around the world at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, in the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave., Downers Grove.
A large number of films were submitted by students of varying ages and diverse backgrounds. Film educators and professionals including Bob Fritz, John Mostacci and Tony Venezia screened each and selected their top choices. Shown will be the best in the categories of fiction, nonfiction and animation/experimental, based on level of education, from grammar school though graduate.
“We will be awarding substantial cash prizes with the hopes that our support will encourage students to continue with their filmmaking,” said Debbie Venezia of Glen Ellyn, founder and executive director of the Film Society.
It meets the second and fourth Monday of every month, except December. For film information, call (630) 534-4528 or visit www.afterhoursfilmsociety.com.
