At their Nov. 16 meeting, the city council is expected to vote on repealing Special Service Area business taxes for 17 residential homeowners.
The SSA covers parking costs, lot maintenance and construction costs for business zoned areas. Exempt properties are residential homes, religious properties and government buildings.
Yet, homeowners in the downtown business district have been charged the tax for several years.
"The district has been around for quite a while," said Paul Evans of the city's economic development department.
The tax ranges from $118 to $600 per year.
