Community leader. Dedicated professional. Avid Bears fan.
This is how many describe Huntley Village Manager Carl Tomaso, who died suddenly June 25 at his home.
“Carl was a leader in the community for the last 11 years and will be sadly missed,” Village President Chuck Sass said in a press release.
Trustee Harry Leopold calls Tomaso a consummate professional.
“He was dedicated to the profession and to providing the very best possible services to the residents of Huntley,” he said.
Leopold said Tomaso was instrumental in getting the new municipal complex built for Huntley on Main Street, and doggedly and steadfastly pursued funding for the widening of Route 47 throughout the city, and a four-way interchange at the tollway.
Last year, village trustees surprised Tomaso with a commemorative plaque in celebration if his 10-year anniversary with the village.
Leopold said Tomaso built a professional city staff.
“To his credit, things are going to run good without him here because of the way he trained them,” he said.
