In honor of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, local businesses are supporting Constance Morris House, a Pillars-sponsored program. Select businesses located in Berwyn, LaGrange, LaGrange Park, Riverside, Brookfield and Forest Park will be selling Pillars logos to raise funds for the local domestic violence shelter.
The logos can be purchased at the stores and will be displayed through the end of the month. Purple logos are on sale for $1 and full color logos cost $5. Purchasing the Pillars logo is a showing of solidarity in the belief that there is no place for domestic violence in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces or schools. All proceeds will go to support Constance Morris House and the domestic violence programs of Pillars.
More than 1,300 women and their children received help from the Constance Morris House by way of emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy and healthcare last year. The 25-bed shelter is the only one of its kind in the near western suburbs of Chicago and among the first to offer on-site healthcare and substance abuse counseling.
