Achievements

• Huntley resident Jeremy Kafka was named to the NCAA Division III All-Midwest Region second team for the Monmouth College baseball team. Previously named the Midwest Conference Southern Division Player of the Year, set the new Monmouth season standard for hits and total bases. He is scheduled for tryouts with two major league teams. An art major, he is the son of Paul and Margaret Kafka of Huntley.

• Andrea Varney and Deann Wagner, softball players at Marengo High School, were presented with Academic Athlete of the Year awards from McHenry County College during a ceremony on May 10.

Dean’s list

• Huntley residents Shaun Gutierrez, Andrew Mannino, Matthew Obenauf and Graham Robson and Marengo resident Sarahi Ortiz were named to Western Illinois University dean’s list for the 2007 spring semester.

• Union resident Vanessa M. Turner was named to Southern Illinios University’s Dean’s list for the 2007 spring semester.

• Woodstock resident Shaina House was named to the Baldwin-Wallace College dean’s list for the spring 2007 semester.

Bachelor’s degree

• Huntley residents Eric M. Grimes, a business administration and finance major and Emily A. McMahon, a cum laude graduate who majored in elementary education and speech communication received bachelor’s degrees from Augustana College during the convocation held May 20.
