Family greetings

If you haven’t sent your annual greetings to your favorite Uncle Sam, time’s up.

Tuesday is the deadline to file your federal and state income tax returns. Sun City residents and the rest of the country, who admit to being over 65 years old, get to check the box for an additional exemption amount. Best wishes to everyone hoping that a refund check will soon follow.

Breakfast anyone?

Initial reports about the first time ever Walleye breakfast offering were nothing less than “eggs”ellent Sun city’s food and beverage services manager, Brenda Mc Vicker, responded to years of requests from the residents for a breakfast option and launched the trial service on Fridays and Saturdays beginning April 13 and 14. Breakfast will be served between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. The highly successful Sunday brunch option continues to be available. Enjoy!

Woodchucks step up again

They did it again! The Woodchucks, Sun City’s retired carpenters and wood working specialists, came together and completed in one day, the sets which will be used for the theatre group’s spring presentation of South Pacific. Their reputation as skilled artisans and craftsmen continues to grow.

Last week they completed a project for the Sun City Tall Oaks Tennis Club’s new tennis courts. Thanks to all of the gentlemen and gentlewomen who love to do what they do.

Community Web Portal

Check it out! Type in, www.oursuncityhuntley.net, and access community updates, news and a personal calendar for clubs and special interest groups you participate in.

The amount of postings since the program’s launch on March 5 has been modest, but the passing of time and regular reminders should increase the portal’s use and value.

As has been suggested to the age restricted community, a quick call to the grandchildren should resolve any technical glitches in cyberspace or stop in at the Prairie Lodge’s business center any Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a helping hand.

Charter Club Exposition

Between the various Charter Clubs and Special interest Groups available to Sun City residents, the total number of groups offering things to do is approaching 100. On Saturday, April 21, between 9 a.m. and noon, these groups will participate in their semi-annual Charter Club Exposition allowing all residents an opportunity to pick and choose, at one time, an activity of their preference. Tom Hall’s Huntley Realty Group is sponsoring this year’s activity.

Alert! Alert!

All of the snow should be melted by Memorial day. Then we can all look forward to the opening of the outdoor pools including the grand opening of the brand new Meadow View pool. The number of “noodle” floaters is likely to grow to new proportions.

I smoke cigars because at my age if I don’t have something to hang on to, I might fall down.
