Tradetec Skyline, a leading provider of exhibit management programs and custom modular displays and graphics, reached a significant milestone in being listed among the recently announced 2008 Inc. 5000. The listing recognizes Tradetec as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The company is based in Lombard. The Chicago area exhibit display company was in the top ten of specialized marketing firms making the list and ranked 3577 overall. The list ranks cumulative growth over a three year period for all private companies.
 

The 2008 Windy City Ski & Snowboard Show runs Friday, Oct. 24 from 3 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Renaissance Convention Center in Schaumburg. Hundreds of ski and snowboard manufacturers, top local retailers, clubs and winter resort destinations, movie premier theater, skiers and snowboarders will fill the 70,000 square-foot convention center. A celebration of success for children who began life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at Central DuPage Hospital Cafeteria, 25 N. Winfield Road, Winfield. Along with families, children will reunite with hospital staff who cared for them when they were newborns. Celebrate excellence with the second annual Downers Grove Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry Chamber Choice Awards. Nominations for this prestigious award are now open. Consider nominating a favorite business and recognizing the many high quality companies in the Downers Grove area. Businesses may be entered in one of four categories for the Business Excellence Award: service, retail, industrial, and professional. Businesses may also be entered in one of two categories for the Community Contribution Award: nonprofit or philanthropic. The Chamber is also offering an individual award honoring an outstanding Young Professional. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 in the Chamber office. LivingWell Cancer Resource Center, the first of its kind complementary cancer care facility in the Fox Valley region, is offering a second series of its popular special health program entitled Six Weeks of Wellness. The series continues on Wednesday, Oct. 22, with part 2 of Imaging Options for the Cancer Patient, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. This program will be presented by Rodney B. For the second year in a row, Downers Grove-based home builder, Oakley Home Builders Inc., was honored by receiving The Key Award from The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago. In 2007, Oakley Home Builders was presented with a Key Award for “Excellence in Housing Design” for their home located at 120 Fourth St., in Downers Grove. This year, Oakley was awarded three Key Awards, all for “Excellence in Housing Design” in different categories of home size. Each home is judged on their design, style, and overall appearance.
 

An 8 week weight loss and lifestyle management program for ages 11 to 18 wll be held at New Dimensions in Geneva. New Dimensions focus is on healthy weight loss while learning lifestyle skills. With an increasing problem of an overweight teen population, this program will focus on the skills needed to manage school lunches, after school snacks, reading labels and incorporating execise.  In cooperation with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, King-Bruwaert House will participate in National Memory Screening Day 2008. Free memory screenings will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the Geriatric Outpatient and Assessment Center located at 6101 S. County Line Road, Burr Ridge.
