Public notices from hundreds of newspapers across Illinois — including all Suburban Life Publication products — are now at the public’s fingertips, thanks to a free online database launched Friday by the Illinois Press Association.

Canadian National Railway’s proposed purchase of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway has touched off a debate among many local communities. Canadian National has said purchasing the little-used rail line will allow some of its trains to bypass the overcrowded rails leading into Chicago. Local leaders argue that the acquisition would dramatically increase train traffic along the EJ&E tracks and negatively impact communities through which they run. What do you think?
