Andrew W. Webb, 20, of 8700 Calumet Ave. in Munster, Ind., was arrested at 1:40 p.m. June 19 at 47th Street and Lawndale Ave. in Lyons and charged with indecent grooming of a child.
The arrest started from an investigation that began when, according to police, the offender allegedly solicited indecent liberties in online conversations with a Western Springs Investigator who posed as a 16-year-old.
Western Springs Police and the Major Case Assistance Team worked together on making this arrest.
Webb was charged with indecent grooming of a child, which is a Class 4 felony. He was then transported to the Cook County 5th District Circuit Court for a bond hearing on June 20 where his bond was set at $5,000.
The police would like to remind the public that a complaint contains only charges and is not proof of a defendant’s guilt.
