The Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation — of which a Countryside man is president — recently surpassed its goal during its first fundraising event by receiving more than $25,000.

Last month, more than 350 guests attended the event, meant to raise funds for the first-ever Comfort Zone Camp, which will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 this year.

"We are humbled to see the incredible support that we've received from our community and all the incredible volunteers that graciously donated their time and talents," said Kevin Doyle, founder and president of SAD, in a news release.

Comfort Zone Camp will take place at Camp Manitoqua in Frankfort. It will host 60 local children between the ages of 7 and 17, whose parent or legal guardian fell victim to murder.

The Sheilah A. Doyle Foundation is a nonprofit organization, which partners with Comfort Zone Camp and its college scholarship program in the beliefs it can turn a child's tragedy into a brighter future, according to a news release.
