Hinsdale, IL -

With the golf sectional comprised of just one round, high school teams around the state know anything can happen on that given day.

And that came true on Monday at the St. Charles East sectional where 2008 Class 3A runner-up Hinsdale Central fell short of advancing to this weekend's state meet by a single shot.

The Red Devils finished with a stroke total of 305, leaving them in third-place behind St. Charles East (304) and Waubonsie Valley (302).

All was not lost for Hinsdale Central though as a pair of individuals qualified for the state meet. Theo Lederhausen placed second with a one-over par 72 while Dylan Lee was one of 11 golfers to finish with a 76, which turned out to be the cut-off for advancement.

Sean Marquardt added a 78, Chris Meyer had a 79, Harry Boling posted an 80 and Cooper Travis rounded out the contingent with an 83.
