Westmont police said former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman and current Chicago Wolves player Chris Chelios was charged with DUI after a traffic stop in Westmont.

According to police reports, Christos K. Chelios, 47, of Bloomfield, Mich., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage  following a traffic stop at about 4 a.m.  Dec. 28 near the intersection of Blackhawk Drive and Ogden Avenue.

Chelios is a former Chicago Blackhawks hockey player, who now plays for the  Chicago Wolves. He played with the National Hockey League’s Detroit Red Wings last season.

According to police, Chelios was traveling eastbound on Ogden Avenue in a pick-up truck when an officer saw the violations. Chelios was the lone occupant in the vehicle at the time of the arrest, police said.

Chelios was transported to the Westmont police station, where he was charged, processed, posted $300  bond and  was released.

He was assigned a court date  Feb.  1 at the DuPage County Circuit Court facility in Wheaton, police said.
