A Streamwood woman that was struck by a train Monday morning has died.

Jasmin V. Kliver, 41, was hit by an inbound Metra train between the Bartlett and Hanover Park stations.

Metra media relations spokesperson Tom Miller said the incident happened around 10:45 a.m. on the Milwaukee District West Line train 2232 heading inbound to Chicago.

According to Metra's report, the train's engineer observed Kliver walk across the track a quarter mile east of Prospect Ave., then crouched down in the train's path. The engineer blew the whistle several times then attempted to place the train in emergency stop mode before hitting the woman.

Kliver was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and was to be air-lifted to Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge but died before the move.

The train was delayed a little over an hour but was scheduled to arrive at Union Station at 11:43 a.m., said Metra official Michael Gillis.

"Everything is back running smoothly," Gillis said late Monday morning.

Metra is currently conducting an investigation. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said an autopsy is being conducted Tuesday and should be released late Tuesday afternoon.
