he Hinsdale Zoning and Public Safety Committee will wait another month before considering whether to make a recommendation to the Village Board on implementing fee-based parking along Grant Street east of Hinsdale Central High School.
During the committee’s Monday meeting members said they would like to obtain more input from residents and Hinsdale Township High School District 86 before taking any action.
The plan would call for making 65 to 70 available parking spaces on Grant Street between 55th Street and 57th Street fee-based through use of pay boxes similar to those used in the downtown business district.
The fee charged for each space could range between $1 and $3 per space, per day, officials said.
The school allows student permit parking in a 200-vehicle capacity lot at a cost of $75 per semester, or $150 a year, school officials said.
If pay boxes are used to administer the program, the village would have to work out an agreement with the school district to place them inside the school.
The committee is expected to continue discussions on the issue at its July 27 meeting.
