The deadline for junior high school students to register for the American Mathematics Contest 8 scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at North Central college in Naperville, is Thursday, Oct. 29.

The contest is open to any public school, private school or home-schooled student in sixth- through eighth-grade.

The test is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school level mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills.

Those who achieve high scores will be invited to compete in the American Mathematics Contest 10 for high school students in February. That test also will take place at North Central College.

There is no charge to register.

The competition will take place at Smith Hall at Old Main, 30 N. Brainerd St., Naperville, on the college’s campus.
