Hinsdale, IL -

Hinsdale Fire Department investigators have not yet determined what caused a fire Thursday, Aug. 27, in a home at 707 Jefferson St.

A resident in the home called 911 at 11 a.m. today to report smoke in the basement of the home and that smoke detectors had activated, said Steve Tullis, spokesman for the Hinsdale Fire Department.

The home was evacuated before firefighters arrived, and the fire was extinguished by 11:45 a.m., Tullis said.

No one was injured in the incident, and no estimate of property loss was given.

The fire resulted in mutual aid being provided by nine neighboring fire prevention agencies, officials said. Firefighters stayed on the scene until about 2 p.m. investigating and ensuring no additional fires ignited, officials said.

The fire was contained to the basement of the structure, Tullis said.

The cause of the fire was not known, although officials said a report could be completed by Friday.

Among the agencies that provided mutual support were the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District, Clarendon Hills Fire Department and Westmont Fire Department.
