Western suburbs, IL -

Marilyn King, a Olympic pentathlon competitor who placed at the 1980 trials after an auto accident left her unable to train, will be the keynote speaker for DuPage PADS’ 6th Annual Wake Up Your Spirit Breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Krasa Center at Benedictine University, Lisle.

Get energized and inspired with King’s message of peace, courage and passion. Join business, congregation and civic leaders in the community for a motivational breakfast. King is an internationally respected business consultant, inspirational speaker, corporate trainer, and exceptional human performance consultant. She also was the University of California at Berkley’s first women’s track and field coach and is the founder of California-based Way Beyond Sports.

While preparing for her third Olympic team in the grueling five-event pentathlon, King got in a car accident that prevented her from being mobile and pursuing her training regimen. While bed-ridden for four months, she used imagery to train mentally. Miraculously, she placed second at the 1980 Olympic trials. Her work focusing on education and peace has led her to two opportunities to speak at the United Nations as well as being honored as a torchbearer for the 2008 Olympics. She has transformed the thinking skills she used — common to all high achievers — into powerful tools that work for all of us.

Tickets are $40 per person or $320 for a table of eight. To register, call DuPage PADS at (630) 682-3846 ext. 242 or register online at www.dupagepads.org.

Proceeds will fund programs such as life skills counseling and employment readiness for people looking to transition back into the community will provide interim (overnight), transitional and permanent supportive housing for homeless men, women and children in DuPage County.

DuPage PADS is seeking individuals, companies or organizations who would like to sponsor the event in part or in whole.
