• St. Luke Presbyterian Church will offer a pet blessing service at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, on the lawn of the church, 3910 Highland Ave., Downers Grove. All pets are welcome, but must be leashed or in an appropriate carrier. The Rev. Rose C. Taul will lead the service, which will include readings, prayer and individual blessings for each animal. • Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4501 Main St., Downers Grove, will be have its annual pet blessing service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, in the parking lot south of the church or the fellowship hall. They strongly encourage pet owners to keep their pets in carriers or on leashes. This special service replaces the regular 11 a.m. service. • First Baptist Church of Downers Grove is presenting a “Pure Style” event for middle school girls. This event is open to all sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls in the community. Pure Style is a ministry designed to encourage today’s teen girl to choose a lifestyle of modesty and purity. The event includes a Pure Style Fashion Show with highlights how to dress modern and modest. Pure Style will also feature Lindsey Kane, who will be performing a concert about the measure of beauty. • Chris Garofalo, music director of the Unitarian Church of Hinsdale, has announced special music will be at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services Oct. 5. The church is at 17 W. Maple Ave.

• Prince of Peace Lutheran Church’s Autumn Fair is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at 2600 W. 75th St., Woodridge. Partial proceeds will benefit the church. For information, call (630) 969-1268.

• The Christian Church of Clarendon Hills offers DivorceCare every Wednesday at 7 p.m. This weekly program and support group is for people who are separated or divorced. Each DivorceCare session includes a video on an issue related to divorce and recovery. Videos feature nationally recognized experts on topics such as coping with loneliness, depression, anger, financial survival, helping children cope with their parent’s divorce and new relationships. • The Daybreak Ministry of St. Scholastica Parish, 7800 Janes Ave., Woodridge, presents “Fly Me to the Moon” Saturday, Oct. 18. • Pets are invited to Church of the Holy Nativity’s third annual pet blessing ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5. • Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road, Naperville, has announced the inauguration of the Grace Concert Series, featuring world-class chamber music from the Chicago area’s the Advent Chamber Orchestra, as well as Gospel and light classics from a variety of celebrated performing artists. • First Christian Church, 801 63rd St., Downers Grove, will host a Systematic Training for Effective Parenting class for parents of elementary school age children from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 15 through Nov. 19. This is a series of video and discussion workshops geared toward development and subsequent improvement of specific skills in order to achieve full potential as loving parents. • St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 305 Lemont St., Lemont, will host its Ladies Aid Annual Turkey Dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15.
