Stickney, IL -

State officials, what in the world is going on with Illinois veterans’ homes? Why does Illinois rate last in the care of veterans?

The governor offered $40 million to tear down the building at Northern Illinois University and build a new one. There is nothing wrong with having a memorial for the college students, just do some changes to the building where the tragedy happened.
Why are there vacant beds at the veteran’s homes? There are vets out there who need a bed and home now.

The veterans from the past, now and the future are the sole reason people can walk free and do as they want to. They stand ready to fight as they are, the guardians of our freedom and they  must be cared for properly.

I am proud to say I am one of those vets from the past and I’m so proud to have served our nation. I guess maybe if you have never worn a uniform you may seem to look the other way at our military. Thank God these young have the guts to wear the uniform. They are in harm’s way to protect us all.

One last thing, I am a vet and 75 years old. I count my blessings every day to do the things I want to do. You state your name on the home list; how is  one to know that two years down the road you need the home. Be real.
