The mayor of Chicago has again just raised his water rates to the suburbs who have to buy water from Chicago.
Personally, I think what he is really doing is telling the suburbs they have to pay for his Chicago budget because he does not know how to balance his own budget any other way.
It seems to me it was one thing if, in fact, Mayor Daley and his brother, Cook County Commissioner John Daley, wanted to have a Democratic governor and a Democratic Cook County Board president. That is their business (in my opinion, neither the governor nor the Cook County Board president can lead themselves — or anyone else for that matter — out of a paper bag).
I am old enough to remember the first Mayor Daley in Chicago, the father of Richard and John. He demonstrated a lot of class and political savvy. I seriously doubt he would be happy with some other town trying to “stick it” to him.
