The skate park facility in Veeck Park will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, according to Village of Hinsdale officials.
The park has been closed since late October of 2008, and did not re-open this year due to construction of a wet weather/storm water facility at the northwest corner of the park, located at Chicago Avenue at the Tri-State Tollway.
According to Gina Hassett, director of the village’s Park and Recreation Department, the skate facility will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., throughout the remainder of the summer.
The skate park remains closed during weekdays while construction on the wet weather facility continues.
Although construction ceases on Friday afternoons, officials said the skate park will not be opened on Friday afternoons and evening.
Some cleanup has been performed at the park, and additional improvements are scheduled, Hassett said.
Officials say the wet weather project should be completed some time this fall.
