The theme for the 2009 Hinsdale South Homecoming week festivities is “World of Imagination,” and students will have plenty of events to exercise their collective and individual imaginations.

  From theme clothing “dress-up” days to the annual staff variety show, every day starting with Pajama Day on Monday and ending with the 2009 Homecoming Dance Oct. 3 will provide a chance for creativity, said Carrie Rosco, activities director at the school.

  “There are so many events planned that the students and staff can enjoy, it should be a great week of activities,” Rosco said.

  On every school day next week leading up to the homecoming football game against Morton High School Oct. 2, students are encouraged to show their spirit by dressing up according to various themes, including “Imagine Sweet Dreams” by wearing pajamas Monday, “Around the World of Imagination” by wearing ethnic clothing Thursday, and “Be the (Black and) Golden Ticket” by wearing the school colors Oct. 2.

“During the week students who dress up with the most spirit will be selected by judges and given candy bars that may contain a golden ticket, which gives them free admission to the homecoming dance,” said Rosco.

All proceeds from admissions charged to the variety show and the ACE Drive-in Movie, scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the school’s court yard, will go toward scholarships for Hinsdale South High School students.

On Oct. 2, the Homecoming Queen will be announced at an afternoon assembly. The Homecoming Dance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in the school’s field house.
