On the brink of elimination from the IHSA Class 8A playoffs, Lyons Township's football team turned in its best outing of the season in a 41-12 win over host Proviso West Saturday in a West Suburban Silver showdown.
The Lions (2-4, 2-2) got two touchdowns apiece from Ryan Mitchell, Deonte Brown and Nick Brown in scoring six touchdowns. Deonte Brown ran for 148 yards, with Nick Brown adding 101 more and Mitchell 89. The Lions also forced four turnovers, picking off four Proviso (2-4, 0-4) passes.
