Officials at Hollywood School have confirmed one case of the H1N1, or swine flu, virus in a student at the school.

The school sent out a letter Wednesday at 3 p.m. confirming the case, informing parents that district officials were working with the Cook County Public Health Department to monitor the situation.

Hollywood School has several measures in place to minimize the spread of illness at the school, including daily cleaning of all rooms, stair railings, laptops, lockers, hand sanitizer pumps, gym equipment, sink and toilet handles, drinking fountains, door handles and computer keyboards.

Hand sanitizers have been installed in each room at the school, and signs have been placed throughout the school reminding students and staff of proper hand washing techniques.

The school will remain open and will operate normally.

For more information about H1N1, visit the Center for Disease Control Web site at cdc.gov/h1n1flu.

The grade level and gender of the student was not released.
