The Riverside Police Department has completed a year-long traffic enforcement grant plan.

The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Division of Traffic Safety gave the village a $34,561 grant to enforce traffic laws.

The village’s seat belt use rate went up to 92 percent, which is comparable to the state seat belt use rate.

The goal of the program was to reduce the overall number of traffic crashes and fatalities, with special emphasis on the speeding, seat belt, and drunk driving violations.
