BROOKFIELD
Man arrested for DUI
A man was charged with driving under the influence after being arrested at about 2:05 a.m. Oct. 28 at Ogden and Custer avenues, police said.

Mario Almaraz, 25, of Berwyn was swerving across lanes of traffic without signaling, according to police.

He was arrested after refusing to take the breath test, police said.  He also was charged with improper lane usage, failure to signal and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

Home burglarized
Officers responded to a call for a residential burglary at about 10:55 a.m. Oct. 26 in the 400 block of Forest Avenue.

A witness told police he had seen a suspicious person and car parked on his street.  He also told police that at about 10:30 a.m. someone had rung his doorbell. When he checked his front door, an unknown man was walking away from his home wearing a black skull cap, police said.

The witness then called his neighbor, the victim of the theft, who told him their residence’s sliding door should be closed, police said. The home already had been burglarized after forced entry was made through the sliding door, police added.

A 19-inch LCD television set, valued at $350, and several personal National City bank checks were taken from the home.

TV stolen from home
Officers responded to a call of a residential burglary at about 6 p.m. Oct. 26 in the 3900 block of Park Avenue.

The victims told police that they had just arrived home and had found their back door kicked in, police said.

A 46” Samsung television set, a Blu-ray player, two iPods, a wireless router and an XBox 360 with several games had been taken from the home. A loss estimate was not provided by police.

Computer taken from home
Police responded to a residential burglary call at about 8:05 p.m. Oct. 29 in the 3300 block of Arden Avenue.

The victim told police that she had returned from shopping and found her home had been entered. A Dell laptop computer, two white pearl necklaces, two MP3 players and a gold pocket watch were missing from the home, according to police. No loss estimate was provided by police.

Jewelry reported missing
A woman called police at about 8:15 p.m.  Oct. 29 to report a residential burglary.

She told police that she left her home in the 3300 block of Arden Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. and returned at 7:45 p.m. When she got home, she noticed some of her jewelry was missing, police said. No loss estimate was provided by police.

RIVERSIDE
Man arrested for DUI
A man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 3:10 a.m. Oct. 27 at Harlem Avenue and Quincy Street, police said.

Mark Tulowitzki, 25, of Park Forest was driving south on Harlem and was observed swerving into the opposite lane of traffic, police said.

Tulowitzki also was charged with improper lane usage and failure to signal when required, police said.

Domestic battery alleged
Police were called to a home at about 2:50 a.m. Oct. 28 in the 100 block of Forbes Road for a report of domestic battery.

Edward Busse, 25, 54 Forest Ave., Riverside was throwing items inside the home, including a table and television set, when officers arrived, police said. The victim said Busse had been drinking in the home when an argument started, police said. The victim told police Busse had left the home before their arrival.

Busse was called to the police station where he was arrested and later charged with domestic battery and disorderly conduct, police added.

Man faces DUI charge
A man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 12:40 a.m. Oct. 31 at Harlem Avenue and 40th Street, police said.

Arnie Alanis, 46, of Berwyn was allegedly traveling 40 mph in a 30 mph zone on Harlem Avenue, police said. He refused field sobriety tests and was arrested, according to police. He had a blood-alcohol content of .129 percent.

Man charged with DUI
A man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 1:20 a.m. Nov. 1 at Harlem Avenue and 26th Street, police said.

Armando Leon, of Cicero, was weaving in and out of traffic without signaling, according to police. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, police said. He had a blood-alcohol content of .232 percent, police added.

DUI alleged
A man was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested at about 3:20 a.m. Nov. 2 at 26th Street and Veterans Drive.

Homero Mendoza, 32, of Berwyn was stopped for improper lane usage, police said. He had a blood-alcohol content of .153 percent and did not have a valid driver's license, according to police. He was cited improper lane usage, and driving without a license.

When Fidel Valencia, 27, of Cicero arrived to post bond for Mendoza, officers told him to wait in the lobby because he appeared highly intoxicated, police said. He then left the police station and drove away, according to police.

He was stopped at the intersection of Riverside and Blackhawk roads at 5:10 a.m., police said. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He refused the breath test and did not have a valid driver's license, police added.
