As the Western Sun sets, Glenbard South looks to the east. The Raiders will be the newest member of the Metro Suburban Conference when the 2010-11 season kicks off.
The Raiders currently compete in the Western Sun Conference which will dissolve after the spring of 2010 as Geneva and Batavia join the Upstate Eight Conference while the rest move west to the North Central Illinois Conference.
Glenbard South, on the other hand, is headed east for its away games against Elmwood Park, Fenton, Ridgewood and Riverside Brookfield which formed the league in 2006. Illiana Christian and Timothy Christian also are part of the seven-team conference.
The catch is that the Glenbard South football team, which finished second in the final season of the WSC, will have to wait until 2011 before competing on the Metro Suburban gridiron.
The MSC is still looking to add members, according to a league press release. Interested programs should contact Todd Leden, principal of Fenton, at (630) 860-6250.
