Man accosts minor

Gerard Schliass, 50, 17 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse Sept. 10 after he was observed kissing and inappropriately touching a minor, according to police reports. Witnesses said they saw Schliass, a registered sex offender, consorting with a 16-year-old girl at about 7 p.m. outside Malloy’s Finest Wine & Spirits, 580 Roosevelt Road, police said. Officers traced Schliass to his apartment complex, where the girl also lives with her parents, reports state.

Alcohol reported stolen

A man stole $250 worth of alcohol Sept. 10 from Malloy’s Finest Wine & Spirits, 580 Roosevelt Road, according to police reports. The suspect was described as 35 to 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build. He left the store after pocketing several bottles of liquor at about 4 p.m. He had short dark hair and was wearing a green button-up short-sleeve shirt, white shorts and a black back pack, reports state.

DUI alleged

James Hickerson, 30, of Chicago was charged with driving under the influence early Sept. 9 after he fell asleep at the wheel while parked on Crescent Boulevard, according to police reports. An officer saw Hickerson slumped against the wheel of his car, which was parked with the engine running, reports state. Upon further investigation, the officer found that Hickerson had vomited on his lap and fallen asleep. After making contact, the officer detected alcohol on Hickerson’s breath and he was arrested, according to reports.
