
Identity theft alleged
A complaint was reported June 14 at about 5:15 p.m. at the Glen Ellyn police station of suspicious charges on a credit card. The victim contacted Chase Bank, which closed the account and said it would start an investigation.
On June 14 at about 3:15 p.m., someone reported that their TCF debit card was missing and had been used by someone else.
Warrant executed
Michael Cooper, 40 of Dolton was taken into custody June 14 at about 2:15 p.m. on an outstanding DuPage County warrant for criminal damage to property and an outstanding warrant from Lake County for larceny. Cooper was unable to post bail and was transported to DuPage County Jail.
Credit card fraud charged
Amanda Haberland, 18 of Lombard was released into Glen Ellyn police custody June 17 at about 1 p.m. by the Schaumburg Police Department for a theft-forgery warrant. Haberland posted bail and was released.
Motor vehicle stolen
Police were dispatched to 47 Surrey Drive, Glen Ellyn, in reference to a stolen vehicle. A 1990 Buick Century four-door vehicle was stolen between 12:15 and 3 a.m. June 17.
Drunkenness charged
Carl Schweis, 22, 563 Carlise Court, Glen Ellyn, was arrested at about 4 a.m. June 3 for drunkenness when officers responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male sleeping on the front steps at 384 Sandhurst Circle, Glen Ellyn.
DUI charged
Mateusz Chechmistro, 27, 715 St. Charles Road, Glen Ellyn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at about 1:30 a.m. June 14 in the 400 block of North Park Boulevard. Chechmistro also was charged with driving without a license, police said.
Bicycle stolen
A locked bicycle was reported stolen from the bike rack at Sunset Pool, 483 Fairview Avenue, Glen Ellyn. The theft occurred June 8 between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.
Three cars burglarized
Three unlocked vehicles parked in the driveway in the 1800 block of Wheaton Court were burglarized between 8 p.m. June 16 and 10 a.m. June 17, according to police. Sunglasses and a wallet with $30 cash were stolen from a Ford Escape; a digital camera was removed from a BMW; and a Dodge Dakota was rummaged through but nothing was taken, according to reports. The estimated value of the stolen items is $220.
Bicycle stolen
A 24-speed bicycle worth $750 was stolen between 6 p.m. June 16 and 1:30 p.m. June 17 in the 800 block of East Crescent Street, according to police reports.
Window shattered
A window was shattered at Helzberg Diamonds, 1901 S. Naperville Road, between 10 p.m. June 13 and 9:30 a.m. June 14, according to police. A hole was put through another window June 9, but that incident was not reported to police at that time.
Estimated value of each damaged window is $200.
Wheaton
Two vehicles entered
A locked Ford F150 parked in a residential driveway was broken into, damaging the window seal, and a Ford Explorer parked in the same driveway also was burglarized, according to police. The estimated value of the stolen items is $1,455, and the damage to the window is estimated at $150.
Retail theft alleged
Gail R. Shapiro, 55, of Naperville was arrested at 401 S. County Farm Road at about 5 p.m. June 14 for retail theft, according to police.
DUI charged
Stephanie L. Holden, 19, of Aurora was arrested June 16 at about 1 a.m. at f Front and Hale streets for driving under the influence, illegal consumption of alcohol by a person under 21, improper lane usage, failure to signal and operating an uninsured vehicle, according to police reports.
Robert H. Avellini, 53, of Roselle was arrested at Liberty Drive and Main Street at about 12:30 a.m. June 15 for driving under the influence, disobeying a traffic control signal and improper lane usage, according to police.
Rianna C. Gray, 23, of Aurora was arrested for driving under the influence and improper lane usage at Butterfield and Orchard roads at about 1:15 a.m. June 14, according to police reports. A passenger, Kenneth W. Adams, 21, of Yorkville also was arrested for possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.
Riley C. Roberts, 17, of Naperville was charged with driving under the influence, illegal consumption of alcohol by a person under 21, speeding, disobeying a traffic control signal, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and illegal squealing of tires at about 2:45 a.m. June 11 where Chase Street intersects the train tracks, according to police.
Resisting an officer alleged
Josiah J. Yeahma, 33, of Carol Stream was charged with obstructing an officer, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct at about 7:30 p.m. June 11 at the 200 block of South Schmale Road, according to police reports.
Suspects charged with DUI
Taliaferro Roots, 29, Aurora was charged with driving under the influence, possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana, improper lane usage and failure to signal arrested at about 12:45 a.m. June 10 at the intersection of Pershing Avenue and President Street, according to police.
Nick P. Theodore, 50, of Glen Ellyn, was charged with driving under the influence, operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage and failure to signal at about 2 a.m. June 7 at the intersection of Elm Street and Naperville Road, according to police reports.
Duval Williams, 36, of Villa Park was charged with driving under the influence and improper parking at the 1300 block of East Roosevelt Road at 1:15 a.m. June 7, according to police.
Ramiro Araujo, 22, of Glen Ellyn was charged with driving under the influence, failing to have a valid driver’s license and parking illegally at about 12:30 a.m. June 11 at Crescent Street and Hill Avenue, according to police.
Graffiti found at park
The Wheaton Park District reported graffiti at Atten Park, 1720 Wiesbrook Road, on the men’s restroom door, on the walls inside the restroom and on a tunnel tube in the park’s playground. It’s estimated that the graffiti was done between 3 p.m. June 7 and 8 a.m. June 8, according to police.
