Former Wheaton resident Herb Adams, who played for the Chicago White Sox for three years, passed away on Feb. 1 at the age of 83.
Adams batted .261 in his three seasons with the White Sox from 1948-50 before the Army drafted him to fight in the Korean War.
He is a member of the Wheaton National Hall of Fame after living 51 years in Wheaton, 28 of them spent as a Wheaton Post Office clerk.
He was the son of the late John Theodore and Patricia Adams. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Donna; his son and daughterin-law, Herb and Karen Adams; and his grandsons Joshua and wife Shannon, Samuel and David, all of Tulsa.
Also surviving him are his sister and her husband Carolyn and Tom Wachter of California, his sister Jane Pisano of California, his brother David Adams of Florida, many nephews and nieces, and a multitude of brothers and sisters in Christ. His sister June preceded him in death.
