The FBI and Wheaton police are investigating a bank robbery this morning at West Suburban Bank.
Wheaton Deputy Police Chief Tom Meloni said police received a call at 10:35 a.m. regarding a robbery at the bank, 295 W. Loop Road.
No one was injured in the robbery.
Meloni said a man walked into the bank and demanded money. He said no weapon was displayed or implied. He was given an undisclosed amount of money, and fled the scene westbound.
The offender was described as white, 6 feet tall, with a medium build, and wearing a white shirt, baseball cap and gray bandana over his face.
While an investigation is under way, Meloni initially said the robbery did not appear to be related with recent bank heists in Glen Ellyn and Villa Park.
A spokeswoman for the FBI’s Chicago office said a call came in to the agency’s Lisle office regarding the robbery between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. The agency spokeswoman declined any further comment until more information is known.
