Wheaton, IL -

Dr. Philip Moscatel is focused on movement. He has had a chiropractic office in Glen Ellyn for more than a decade and recently completed writing a book describing techniques he designed to improve a person’s balance, movement and posture.

He also works at Health Track Sports and Wellness as a trainer.

A resident of Crete, Moscatel commutes 46 miles to his office at 443 Duane St., across from the Glen Ellyn Public Library. Why?

“I like the hometown feeling. I treat my patients like a country doctor,” he said. “I give them my ear.”

But before becoming a doctor, Moscatel studied ballet. He also was a choreographer and producer. He even taught ballet for a time before deciding to become a chiropractor.

For four years he balanced his time between work and writing his book, something he said was very difficult to do. Most of his notes were written on envelopes while driving on the highway, he said. The book, “Posture Core, Wellness Made Simple,” presents a training method tailored to challenge a person’s balance, movement and posture mechanisms all at once.

Moscatel said his ballet background helps him explain the science of posture and movement to his patients. In writing his book, Moscatel even practiced some of his new techniques on his patients and used their feedback.

He said within 12 seconds he can identify several characteristics of a person’s movement. “That’s all I do, I observe people,” he said. With his techniques, he can correct what needs to be corrected, he said. “You will have improved your body, your wellness.”
The program

He’ll be giving a free lecture and demonstration on posture care and activation techniques, Nov. 11 at Health Track Sports and Wellness, 875 Roosevelt Road, Glen Ellyn.
