Glen Ellyn School District 41 is considering a tax levy that would be a 2.252 percent extension over last year's levy.
If the proposed levy is adopted, the overall tax rate would be 2.7041 percent of $100 of equalized assessed value. Last year's tax rate was 2.7025 percent. A property's assessed value is always a third of market value.
"It's a slight increase over last year's," said Riebock. "Which would be an indicator that (equalized assessed valuation) has dropped."
District Superintendent Ann Riebock said she does not yet know how the district's EAV has changed from 2008 until 2009.
Last year's levy collected about $39.58 million. Riebock said that if adopted, this year's levy would generate about $40.433 million. Though Riebock believes the district will receive less money than requested.
The Levy could be adopted at the district's board of education meeting Dec. 7, following a public hearing.
