First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn is hosting the “World Vision Experience: AIDS” tent exhibit.
Residents are invited to join the more than 30,000 people who have already been through the free, multimedia, interactive exhibit.
The “World Vision Experience: AIDS” exhibit allows Americans to step into the lives of children affected by HIV and AIDS in the hardest-hit region of the world: Sub-Saharan Africa, where 25 million people are infected with HIV (two-thirds of the world’s total of HIV-positive individuals).
Visitors walk through a replica of an African village and experience the effects of the pandemic as they listen to a personal audio track relating the story of one of three children – Olivia, Stephen or Beatrice.
The free exhibit will be open:
• Saturday, Sept. 6: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 7: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Monday, Sept. 8: Noon to 10 p.m.

The World Vision Experience was launched in Fall 2005. In the first year, nearly 20,000 people in 10 North American cities visited the Experience, which was featured at the 2006 Global AIDS Conference in Toronto and displayed in New York’s Grand Central terminal. The smaller tent version was created in 2006 to tour college campuses in southern California and since then has toured colleges, churches and music festivals around the country.
World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.
