A Burr Ridge businessman will take over immediately to fill a vacancy left on the College of DuPage Board of Trustees after former Trustee Jane M. Herron resigned abruptly during a Jan. 18 meeting.

More and more these days, a school administrator’s success isn’t measured in letter grades and conduct marks — it’s gauged by an ability to implement a mounting wall of mandates while producing positive test scores and receiving little to no financial assistance along the way.

Community Unit School District 200 officials announced last week that Wisconsin educator Richard Drury will succeed retiring Superintendent Gary Catalani at the end of the academic year. The School Board unanimously approved a three-year contract Feb. 14 with a base salary of $200,000.

Daniel Spychala of Glen Ellyn, a student in the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall quarter of the 2006-07 academic year. Students on the dean’s list have attained a GPA of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale.

Glen Ellyn School District 41 will have a full-time finance chief starting this summer after months of the position being filled by two interims.
