BATAVIA

Man charged with DUI
maeMichael S. Chidester, 27, of Hinkley, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle and improper lane use at 2:24 a.m. Feb. 26.
Chidester was released with a court date of April 22 after posting his driver’s license and $100 for bail.

Theft at Kohl’s alleged
Jenna N. Inkovich, 17, and Jessica D. Fahnestock, 17, both of Sugar Grove, were charged with retail theft at 9:34 p.m. Feb. 26.
The two women took clothing and costume jewelry. Items that Inkovich allegedly took were valued at $187; and items that Fahnestock allegedly took were valued at $174.60.
Both Fahnestock and Inkovich were kept in a jail cell overnight until posting bond Friday kbeese 3/3/09 Feb. 27.

Batavian charged with DUI
Chad E. Goldman, 34, of Batavia, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, no insurance, failure to signal, fleeing and eluding police, and no driver’s license on his person at 11:30 p.m. Sunday kbeese 3/3/09 March 1
Goldman was released with a March 25 court date after posting $300 bail.

GENEVA
Suspects accused of theft
n Gladis Godino, 22, 1102 Lorlyn Circle, Batavia, was charged with retail theft after allegedly stealing $172 worth of clothing at 12:15 p.m. Jan. 31 from Marshall’s, 1596 S. Randall Road.
n Peter J. Mentenick, 53, of Aurora was charged with stealing laundry detergent, meat, liquor and coffee, valued at $324, at 4 p.m. Jan. 28 at Dominick’s. Police said the man loaded items in a cart and went out the handicapped-access door without paying and was apprehended by security.

Antique theft reported
On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Geneva Antique Market, 227 S. Third St., reported four costume jewelry rings and a Dalmatian broach missing.
The total value of the missing jewelry was $102.

Bottles of liquor stolen
On Feb. 26, four bottles of liquor, valued at $126, were stolen from Dominick’s Finer Foods, 2000 S. Randall Road.
Store security state cameras caught a woman taking the bottles.
Two bottles of 1800 Reposado, valued at a total of $59, and two bottles of HQ Hypnotiq, valued at a total of $57, were stolen by the pair.

Woman arrested for battery
On Feb. 28 at 9:15 a.m., an aggravated battery took place at 2275 Rockerfeller Drive.
A woman said that another woman who she did not know knocked on her front door while she was sleeping. When she answered, the woman started punching her with what she described as a “brass knuckle-like object.”
The victim received cuts to her upper lip, resulting in eight stitches, and bruising to her face and neck.
Along with injuries to the victim, there also was damage to the home’s drywall as a result of the scuffle.

Retail theft at lingerie shop
Twenty T-shirt bras, valued at $28 each, were stolen from Victoria’s Secret, 318 Commons Drive. The theft was reported at noon Sunday kbeese 3/3/09 March 1.
Loss was estimated at $570.

ST. CHARLES
Two tries for fake plumbers
After reading about men posing as plumbers and stealing from a local woman, a resident of the 200 block of Fairview Drive reported Feb. 24 that a man came to her home in late January and said he needed to check for rust in the water. He offered the woman $50, which he said was a refund from the city, police said.  The woman refused to take the money, and the man left in an unidentified vehicle.

Retail-theft charges
n Meleah C. Straub, 19, of Algonquin was charged with retail theft at about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6 for allegedly stealing a bottle of vodka from Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road.

n Manuel Beltran-Beltran, 19, and Yesena Ceballos, 17, of West Chicago were charged with unlawful possession of a fraudulent identification card and retail theft at about 10 p.m. Feb. 7 for allegedly stealing an MP3 player and other items from Meijer.
n Judy M. Laver, 53, 120 E. Wilson St., Batavia, was charged with retail theft at about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 3 for allegedly stealing groceries and toys worth about $90 from Meijer.
n Jan Wiszowatry, 57, of Chicago was charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing several items from Butera Foods, 2732 E. Main St., between 8 p.m. Jan. 21 and 6 a.m. Jan. 22. Police said he OK worked at the store as a night janitor.
n Keely L. Froelicher, 18, of Yorkville was charged with retail theft at 8 p.m. Jan. 26 at Meijer. She allegedly stole cosmetics valued at $8 from the store.
n Marta W. Forde, 40, 601 Spring St., Geneva, was charged with felony retail theft at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at Meijer. Forde placed merchandise valued at $400 in her cart after paying for a $38 purchase, police said. end old overflow stuff
n Al S. Smith, 19, 1326 Indiana St., was charged with retail theft at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 for allegedly stealing a pellet gun and athletic shoes from Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road. He also was charged with criminal trespass because he had been banned from the store, police said. There also was an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court on previous charges of retail theft and possession of alcohol by a minor.
n Yvette D. Swift-Graham, 40, 155 Walnut Drive, was charged with retail theft at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23 for allegedly stealing underwear and clothing valued at $41 from Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road.
n Hipolita Tiro-Olivera, 37, 1726 Howard St., was charged with retail theft at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 25 for allegedly stealing items from Kohl’s, 3840 E. Main St., by replacing price tags with clearance price tags. She paid $19.40 for items valued at $119, police said.
n Daniel F. Gruber, 36, 6N302 Ferson Woods Drive, was charged with retail theft at 10:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, for allegedly stealing food and alcohol valued at $53 from Meijer, 855 S. Randall Road.
n Target employees reported to police Feb. 21 that a man came to the store on three separate occasions and stole a total of nearly $300 worth of video games and $40 worth of nicotine gum.

Drunken driving charges
n John W. Krause, 24, 1016 Strickland Blvd., Bartlett, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing a peace officer and speeding after a traffic stop at about 2 a.m. Feb. 1 on the 2800 block of East Main Street.
n David M. Carpenter, 32, 910 James St., Geneva, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without headlights and disobeying a stop sign at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 17 at South Second and Walnut streets.
n Phillip C. Riipi, 26, 846 Third Ave., Geneva, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of open alcohol and improper lane use at 10:30 p.m. Jan. 21 on the 1500 block of Riverside Avenue.
n Daniel J. Zimmer, 45, 3N870 Thornapple Road, St. Charles, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing a peace officer, improper lane use and speeding at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 24 at North Second Street and Timber Trail.
n Jason R. Cummings, 36, of Sycamore was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle and speeding at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25 on the 2000 block of West Main Street. end old stuff. bb
n  James A. Mannix Jr., 21, of Plainfield, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting a peace officer and improper lane use at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 22 in the 100 block of South First Street.
n Timothy J. Willoughby, 28, 34W929 James Drive, was charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, obstructing a peace officer, driving while license revoked and possession of drug paraphernalia at midnight Feb. 25 following a traffic stop in the 200 block of Cedar Avenue. He was also cited for two traffic offenses.
n Julia A. Antonelli, 43, 36W401 Lancaster Road, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use at 1 a.m. Feb. 26 in the 3600 block of North Second Street.
n  James E. Battle, 57, of Melrose Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use and speeding at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, in the 1800 block of East Main Street.

Car theft reported
A 2007 Toyota Rav 4 was stolen between 10 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Feb. 17 from the 3600 block of East Main Street.

Resident finds man in bed
A resident of the 300 block of Illinois Street returned from a weeklong trip to New York on Feb. 25 to find an unidentified man sleeping in his bed. The resident escorted the man from his home without incident and nothing appeared to be stolen, police said.

Vehicle burglaries reported
n A car stereo valued at $100 was stolen between noon Feb. 15 and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 24 from a car in the 100 block of Illinois Street.
n A car stereo, amplifier and speakers, total value of $490, were  stolen from a car in the 1700 block of East Main Street between 3 and 11 p.m. Feb. 16. The car’s window was smashed, causing an estimated $200 in damage.
n  An empty laptop case valued at $50 was stolen between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Feb. 17 in the 3000 block of East Main Street.
n  A purse, wallet, cellular telephone charger and cash, total value of $300, were stolen from a car in the 100 block of Walnut Drive between 7 and 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
n A GPS unit and an iPod were found in the snow near a vehicle in the 200 block of Walnut Drive at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 after a man carrying a pellet gun was seen running from the area.

Credit card fraud alleged
A St. Charles resident reported that a credit card was used to make $57 in fraudulent purchases from the iTunes Music Store on Feb. 12 and 17.

Three charged in bar after hours
overflow Sarah L. Bond, 26, 420 Brittany Court, Geneva, and Nicole K. Manny, 26, 726 Mosedale St., and John N. Schoenholtz, 26, 706 W. Main St., both of St. Charles, were charged with after-hours occupancy of an establishment at 1:30 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Beehive Tavern & Grille, 208 W. Main St.

Items reported stolen
overflow n A wallet, cell phone, credit cards and $60 were stolen between 6:30 and 8 p.m. Jan. 16 from a locker at XSport Fitness, 238 N. Randall Road.
n A GPS unit and a radar detector were stolen between 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22 and midnight Jan. 23 from a car on the 1500 block of West Main Street.
n A bank bag containing $1,250 and credit-card receipts was stolen between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Jan. 27 from Gina’s Subs & Pizza, 2770 E. Main St.
n Thirty-five pair of underwear valued at $16 each were stolen at about 5 p.m. Jan. 30 from Victoria’s Secret, 3800 E. Main St.
n The spare tire of a 2006 Ford Explorer was stolen Jan. 30. The owner discovered the missing tire when getting an oil change. Loss was estimated at $300.
n After pumping $20 in gas, a woman drove off without paying at Meijer gas station at 8 p.m. Jan. 31.

Property damage reported
n A fire alarm and floodlight were damaged between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 2 and 7 a.m. the next day at National Tire and Battery, 3845 E. Main St.
n The side mirror of a Pontiac G6 was broken between 7 and 10 p.m. Jan. 23 on the 1300 block of Madison Avenue.
n Purple graffiti was sprayed Jan. 23 in three areas of Heritage Hills Park, 3010 Heritage St. The graffiti was estimated to cost $100 to remove.
n The rear passenger window of a Mercedes-Benz was broken between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 27 on the first block of Third Street.
n The driver’s door lock of a 2002 Subaru Impreza was damaged between 8 and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in the parking lot of Meijer.

Driving violations charged
n Rosalinda De Los Santos, 35, 123 S. Third St., St. Charles, was charged with driving with no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle and expired registration after a traffic stop at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 2 on the 500 block of South Randall Road.
n Estela Contreras-Onofre, 43, of West Chicago was charged with no valid driver’s license and speeding at about 4 a.m. Feb. 5 after a traffic stop on the 900 block of South Kirk Road.
n Carlos Tecotl-Lanzo, 26, 526 Clear St., was charged with no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving without headlights when required at about 10:45 p.m. Feb. 3 after a traffic stop on the 800 block of South Kirk Road.
n Salvador Heredia, 155 N. 15th St., St. Charles, was charged with no valid driver’s license and disobeying a stop sign at 4:15 a.m. Feb. 2 on South 16th Street.

Underage drinking charged
Nicholas A. Martin, 19, 1308 Jewel Ave., St. Charles, and Tanya M. Gregorie, 20, 749 Lancaster Lane, Geneva, were charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor at 12:45 a.m. Feb. 2 in the parking lot of Best Western, 1635 E. Main St.

Two charged in bar fight
Joseph R. Pino, 35, 928 W. Main St., St. Charles, and Edward W. Brignon, 33, of Sheridan were charged with disorderly conduct at 11:45 p.m. Feb. 1 on the 1400 block of West Main Street. The two fought in the parking lot of Roy’s Evergreen Tavern, police said.

Drug charges filed
n Brian G. O’Keefe, 24, of Elburn was charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 after a traffic stop on the first block of Seventh Street.
n Martin J. Julitz, 18, 421 Anderson Blvd., Geneva, was charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 7:45 p.m. Feb. 6 after a traffic stop on the first block of Ninth Street.
n Brian J. Twite, 21, 6N298 Woodlawn Ave., St. Charles, was charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana, reckless driving, improper lane use and disobeying a traffic-control device at 10 p.m. Jan. 17 at North Fifth Avenue and East Main Street.
n Paul E. Sharp, 26, 1019 Navajo St., and Timothy E. Ayalin, 26, 1021 Navajo St., both of Carol Stream, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 8:45 p.m. Jan. 31 after a traffic stop on the 3700 block of East Main Street. Sharp also was charged with possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana, operating an uninsured vehicle and disobeying a traffic-control signal.

Battery reported
A tow truck driver reported that he was struck in the head by someone at about 4:30 a.m. Feb. 6 while looking for cars to tow in a parking lot on the 1400 block of Indiana Street. The victim believed he was hit with a bottle, police said.
