The Kane County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information on the attempted abduction of a boy Monday in Geneva’s Mill Creek subdivision.
On Thursday, the Sheriff's Department released a sketch of what they believe the suspect looks like.
At 3 p.m., a white man between 20 and 30 years of age pulled up to the side of a 9-year-old boy on a bicycle and asked if he wanted to go to Bible study with him. When the boy refused, the man got out of his vehicle and attempted to grab the youth’s bike. The boy, a Geneva resident, was able to free his bicycle and ride home where he immediately reported the incident to family members.
The attempted abduction took place near Brundige Drive and West Weaver Circle.
Police state that the offender has brown eyes and red hair. He was driving a newer model dark green Mustang GT with red seats and a decal of a baseball going through the back window.
Lt. Pat Gengler, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Department, said the boy returned home uninjured.
After the incident, the man got back in his car and drove off. He was last seen traveling north on Brundige toward Keslinger Road. Anyone with information is asked to call (630) 232-6840.
