Geneva, IL -

A St. Charles man was killed Saturday when his 1992 Chevrolet pickup was hit head-on by another car at East State Street (Route 38) and Old Kirk Road.

Walter E. Lohmeyer was taken to Delnor-Community Hospital on Saturday for chest trauma and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Lohmeyer was 84.

Geneva officers responded to a three-car accident at 4:25 p.m. at State and Old Kirk.

Through evidence and witness reports, police say, Alicia Sanchez, 29, was traveling east on the 1400 block of East State in her 2005 Mini Cooper when she crossed through the Kirk intersection continuing east into the westbound lane of traffic and hit Lohmeyer’s pickup head on.

A third vehicle, a 1998 Chevrolet S10, which also was in the westbound lane, was damaged as a result of driving onto the median to avoid being struck by Sanchez’s vehicle.

Sanchez was taken to Delnor with leg injuries, and her status was unknown at this time.

Geneva Police Department Cmdr. Julie Nash says their  accident investigator is still investigating the accident; and it is unknown whether charges will be filed.
