BATAVIA
Consumption of alcohol by a minor

  • Keith D. Hayes, 20, 755 Church St., was taken into custody for consumption of alcohol by a minor. Hayes was bonded on his personal recognizance and taken to the Kane County Jail on an outstanding warrant.
  • George O. Othon, 19, 39W362 E. Curtis Square, was taken into custody and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. Othon was released with a July 21 court date after posting $100 bond.
  • James R. Kenney, 17, 668 N. Van Nortwick Ave., Batavia, and Peter E. Doyle, 17, of 1105 Fagan Road, Batavia, were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. They were released with an Aug. 18 court date.


Theft of more than $300

  • At 11:26 a.m. June 29, an unknown subject removed one tire and rim plus an electronic tire pressure monitoring system from Wal-Mart, 801 N. Randall Road. Total value was $400.
  • At 6:49 p.m. Sunday, July 5, jewelry was found missing from a residence on the first block of Oak Terrace. There were no signs of forced entry.


Break-in reported
At 6:58 a.m. July 1, a building on the 1100 block of West Wilson Avenue was broken into. The door was damaged but nothing was stolen. Damage is estimated at $300.

Traffic, DUI charges filed
Wolfredo Arroye, 26, of Orlando, Fla., was cited for two counts of improper lane use, violating the minimum speed regulations, driving without insurance, operating a vehicle with expired registration and driving under the influence. Arroye posted $300 bond and was released with an Aug. 26 court date.

Arson
At 6:45 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at Braeburn Park, 507 Western Ave., unknown offenders built a small fire underneath playground equipment. It resulted in $1,500 damage.

GENEVA
Traffic warrant arrests
David L. Osborne, 33, 1601 Shoreline Drive, St. Charles, was pulled over on the 300 block of West State Street for driving without headlights at 8:04 p.m. June 27. Osborne was arrested when it was discovered he had a warrant for $5,000. There also were two passengers in the car, one unnamed and David A. Drewes, 28, 5N765 Crane Road, St. Charles. Drewes was arrested on an outstanding $2,000 warrant. Osborne was issued a warning for driving without lights and cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while his license and registration was suspended. He was taken to Kane County Jail.

Consumption of alcohol by a minor
Jennifer R. Lutz, 20, 7N030 Gary Court, St. Charles, pulled over at the 1300 block of West State Street for a stop sign violation. Lutz was arrested for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, unlawful possession of a fraudulent identification card and unlawful possession of marijuana. She was released on $100 bail with an Aug. 4 court date.

Battery
Adam G. Cournaya, 25, 113 S. North Hampton Drive, was arrested after it was discovered he punched another man in the face at River Lane Pub, 65 North River Lane, at 12:15 a.m. June 27. The victim said Cournaya punched him in the right eye, causing his eye to swell and jaw to hurt. Cournaya was charged with battery and given a court date of Aug. 4.

Theft over $300
Between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. June 26, a Haro 20-inch BMX bicycle was stolen from behind the dumpsters at 23 S. Fourth St. The bike had been left behind the dumpsters unlocked. It is valued at $600.

Criminal damage to property
Between 11:30 p.m. June 27 and 9:30 a.m. June 28, a gray 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee was damaged in front of 1511 Meadows Road while parked in the street. The car’s windshield was broken, and the driver’s side door was scratched and dented. The driver’s side mirror also was broken.

Retail theft
Between 6:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. June 30, 75 pairs of underwear were stolen from Victoria’s Secret, 318 Commons Drive. The underwear were valued at $1,200 total.
