
A man is in police custody after trying to evade Batavia Police on Wednesday.
Ivan Navarro, 26, of the 800 block of Hidden Creek in North Aurora, is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding police, aggravated driving with a revoked license, two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, speeding, disobeying a stop light and three counts of disobeying a stop sign.
During the time Navarro was eluding police Western Avenue Elementary School was placed on “soft lockdown” this Wednesday at 9 a.m., according to District 304.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday, the District received word from the Geneva Police Department that a man driving a stolen vehicle on Western Avenue south of Fabyan Parkway fled the area on foot after being stopped by Batavia Police.
All of the building’s exterior doors were secured and students will not be allowed outside for recess or physical education classes.
The school has received word from the police that the suspet has been identified and there is no danger to the community.
District 304 said at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday they will resume a normal school schedule for the rest of the day.
