The Geneva History Center will host a presentation about Depression Era art in Illinois Post Offices at 7 p.m. July 9.
The lecture will be given by author and scholar Mary Emma Thompson in the Community Room of the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St.
Thompson is an expert on Depression era art and the author of “A Guide to Depression Era Art in Illinois Post Offices.”
The discussion will include images and commentary concerning a number of murals, including the mural by Manuel Bromberg, which is in the Geneva Post Office.
Bromberg’s mural has been a topic of interest lately in light of the decision to sell the Geneva Post Office, which most probably will displace “Fish Fry in the Park.”
Admission to the event is $3 for members and children, and $5 for nonmember adults. All proceeds benefit the Geneva History Center.
