Cooling centers open during hot weather in Geneva

Geneva, IL -

The city of Geneva sent out a release notifying residents that three cooling centers will be open in Geneva when 100 degree weather is forecasted for two straight days.

Cooling centers will be at Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; Geneva Public Works Facility, 1800 South St., 7 a.m. through 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; and Geneva Fire Department Headquarters, 200 East Side Drive, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

There are no public sleeping facilities at the Fire Department.

The city recommends that residents who have at-risk friends, neighbors or relatives help by checking on them periodically.
