The project to beautify Roosevelt Road has earned Berwyn, Cicero and Oak Park an honorable mention award from the International Economic Development Council.
The honor was presented at a ceremony on Sept. 28 during the IEDC’s annual conference in Columbus, Ohio.
Berwyn and the other municipalities received the honor because community leaders worked together to start construction of a new streetscape for Roosevelt. The streetscape plans run through all three municipalities.
The three communities were presented with the award in the category of regionalism and cross-border promotion for communities with populations of 25,000 to 200,000 for their long-term commitments to unify the Roosevelt Road district.
Paul Zimmermann, president of the Berwyn Development Corporation and member of the Roosevelt Road Advisory Committee, attended the conference to accept the award.
