Home burglarized
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 2800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue at about 1:15 p.m. Sept. 23 to the report of a burglary.

The man home at the time told officers he was in the basement when he heard footsteps on the main floor and thought it was another family member returning home. Shortly after, the man heard footsteps in the rear of the home. After going upstairs, the man saw no one but found items missing from the home, police said.

Items reported stolen included various gold chains, a laptop computer and an iPod, police said.

Man charged with theft
A Berwyn man was charged with retail theft after allegedly stealing a juice pack from a grocery store Sept. 29.

Octavius Simmons, 18, of the 1900 block of South Kenilworth Avenue, was arrested at Jerez Grocery Store, 1500 S. East Ave., at about 1:15 p.m. Sept. 29.

Police arrived to the store and found Simmons exiting the store drinking a Capri Sun juice pack. An employee following him said she witnessed Simmons place the juice pack in his pocket and leave the store, police said.

The employee told officers Simmons comes into the store regularly to allegedly harass employees and has allegedly committed other retail thefts, according to the report.

Marijuana charge filed
A Berwyn man was charged with possession of marijuana after being arrested at about 1 p.m. Sept. 29 near 26th Street and Oak Park Avenue.

Berwyn police stopped three men walking westbound to check for truancy violations. An officer at the scene remembered one of the men from a marijuana possession arrest and asked the three men if they had anything they should not have, police said.

One of the men, Jorge Ayala, 20, of the 3500 block of South East Avenue, Berwyn, told police he had three bags of marijuana.

Police searched Ayala and found three clear plastic bags from his pants pocket and a marijuana cigarette.

Battery alleged
A Berwyn man was charged with aggravated battery after getting into a fight with a pregnant woman.

Berwyn officers were waved down in the 6400 block of West 31st Street at about 4:55 p.m. Sept. 30 by a woman who said she was stabbed in the hand.

Before paramedics arrived, the woman told police she had a fight with Jimmy Delgallo, 24, of the 3700 block of South Gunderson Avenue, who pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the hand, police said.

Officers found Delgallo later that day and brought him to the Police Department for questioning, police said.

In a statement, Delgallo said the woman pulled a knife from her pants pocket and tried to stab him with it, police said. When he took the knife from her, Delgallo said she attempted to take it back and cut her hand in the process, police said.

After an investigation by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Delgallo was charged with aggravated battery Oct. 1.

Woman faces drug charge
A woman was charged possession of a controlled substance after being arrested at about 4 p.m. Oct. 1 in the 6800 block of Riverside Drive, police said.

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance found a woman, Karon Teske, 35, of Thomson, that was slurring her speech and was not able to complete full sentences, police said.

As Teske got out of her car, she threw a small glass vial underneath the vehicle, police said.
Officers recovered the vial, which contained PCP, according to the report.

Teske was charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Gas station robbed
Three men robbed a Berwyn gas station at gunpoint earlier this month, police said.

Officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at De Linares Gas, 1546 S. Lombard Ave., at about 7:25 p.m. Oct. 1.

An employee told police three men entered the store, and one of the men took out a gun. The gunman pointed the gun at her while another man took about $1,200 from the cash register, police said.

All three men, who were described as between 16 and 20 years old, fled southbound on Lombard before police arrived.

Police reviewed video surveillance from the gas station and are continuing their investigation.
