A man remains in the hospital this week after he was found stabbed in the neck on the steps of a Berwyn church Saturday, Oct. 31.
Paramedics responded to First Baptist Church of Berwyn, 6916 W. 34th St., at about 8:50 a.m. Saturday to the report of a man bleeding, according to Berwyn Mayor Robert Lovero. Police were able to question the man Monday morning.
Lovero said the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, is homeless and recently back from California, but was not cooperating with police to determine if the wounds were self-inflicted.
Berwyn Police Chief William Kushner and City Administrator Brian Pabst were unavailable for comment on the incident Monday.
Lovero said officers and paramedics found a man with no identification on him on the steps of the church with knife wounds to the neck.
He was transported to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn where he underwent emergency surgery.
