MORE INFO Participants for the traditional ceremonies will gather at the health department and proceed to Berwyn City Hall, 6700 W. 26th St., where Mayor Robert Lovero and City Clerk Tom Pavlik will speak. Traditional lowering of the colors and a performance of “Taps” will be included.
Veterans Day Parade
WHERE Parade kicks off from Oak Park and Windsor avenues
WHEN 2 p.m. May 24
MORE INFO Parade will proceed south on Oak Park Avenue to Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Stickney. Parade participants include representatives from all of Berwyn veterans organizations, as well as several from Cicero and Stickney.

MORE INFO Guest speakers include Stickney Village President Daniel O’Reilly, VietNow President Gary Krzemkowski, VFW of Illinois Assistant Legislative Director Frank Amaro and VFW Post 2378 Commander Jack Meshek. Ceremony will include lowering of the colors, a 21-gun salute and “Taps” performed by former alderman Tom Day.

Memorial Day Program

MORE INFO The program will be focused on education this year. The American Legion will educate children about the value, meaning and importance of Memorial Day. The goal is to help teach history and that freedom is not handed and something maintained through generations. Current service men and women are strongly recommended to attend. A flower memorial, music and speakers will be at the Memorial Day event. Information will be provided regarding joining the American Legion and VFW. Military Appreciation Ceremony

Memorial Day
The gathering honors veterans by having attendees pay respect to the men and women to our service in the past and today’s services. Veterans honor those who have died by placing wreaths by the monuments in the park. People can gather in the park during the ceremony and after to honor past and future service men and women.

Memorial Day Services

MORE INFO Robert E. Coulter Jr. Post 1941 American Legion will begin a full morning of remembrance with a full Color Guard and Rifle Squad ceremony at the flag pole in front of the school where the names of those from the area who died in the nation’s wars will be read. From there attendees will visit Lyonsville Cemetery in Countryside and Parkholm Cemetery in La Grange Park to pay respects. The morning concludes with a final ceremony at the Post, 900 S. La Grange Road, La Grange, at noon. The public is encouraged to attend.
Westchester
Memorial Day Ceremony

MORE INFO The Westchester Park District will host a remembrance ceremony and present a memorial wreath. Representatives from the village, police and fire departments, Elementary School District 92.5, the Chamber of Commerce and the Westchester Public Library are expected.
