• The First Congregational Church of Western Springs, 1106 Chestnut St., will hold a two-part Inquirer’s Class for friends of the church who are interested in joining during worship Sept. 28. The classes will be held Sunday, Sept. 21, and Tuesday, Sept. 23, and will highlight the history of Congregationalism and First Congregational’s fellowship, educational and volunteer opportunities. • Western Springs Baptist Church Women’s Ministry invites all women to hear Mary Welchel at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the church, 4475 Wolf Road. She will be speaking on the topic “Mary of Bethany — The First New Testament Theologian.” The evening includes a make-it and take-it project to give to those who cannot get out, refreshments and a great message from Welchel. • The Women’s Guild of the Village Church of La Grange Park announces its annual Salad Bar Luncheon scheduled for 12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the church, 1150 Meadowcrest Road, La Grange Park. The featured program is “Tres Bella,” an Andrew Sisters Review and other songs of the ’40s. Cost is $8 per person and need to be purchased in advance. • The Village Church of La Grange Park, 1150 Meadowcrest Road,  is currently accepting enrollment in their Sunday school and confirmation classes which begin on Sept. 7. Classes meet at 9:15 a.m. every Sunday. Children ages 3 through fifth grade will be enrolled in age appropriate classes of the program. • The First Congregational Church of Western Springs will hold its annual Fall Rummage Sale from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, with half-price and bag sale from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Shoppers will find great deals on gently used clothing, housewares, furniture items, toys, books and sporting equipment. Money raised from this sale will support numerous local and national nonprofit agencies. The sale will be at 1106 Chestnut St., Western Springs.
